Thinking out of the box is a specialty of our Turkish partner LightApp. While the Posterbox 400 series was initially developed for use in signage projects, architectural designs are now also being created with the Koledo Affinium posterbox modules.

The Adile Sultan Palace in Istanbul is one of LightApp’s latest architectural lighting projects for which they preferred to use the Koledo Posterbox 400 series. The customer wanted the palace to be highly visible from different locations all over Istanbul. With the installed lighting everybody can enjoy the sight of this beautiful palace from anywhere in Istanbul.

The historical importance of the palace is undisputed. It is one of the main buildings that can be seen from right across the Istanbul Bosphorus. So a unique lighting scheme was called for. The plan was to use 2 different methods of illumination: 1) projecting- and 2) accent lighting. For projection lighting they chose 3000K warm white LED sources and for the accent lighting they used one Posterbox 400 module 4000K in each window. The reason why LightApp chose the Posterbox 400 series to illuminate the windows is because of the asymmetric lenses which give the best lighting effect inside the window frame. In addition to that, the quick and easy installation and its slim design made it possible to install the products so they would be hidden during the day.

The owner of the palace is delighted with the end result; after years of planning, this beautiful historic building is finally a real eye-catcher along the Bosphorus. High-ranking ministers come to the palace for exclusive diners and prominent citizens are holding their weddings here.
