In July 2013, Intermarché Portugal came to the conclusion that the LED strings they were then using were not what they had expected. The quality and continuity in colour were not as had been promised when they bought the products. All the individual LED nodes could be identified when looking at the box letters. Therefore, they asked Philips Portugal and a local sign maker to provide a solution for the logo lighting at the next 70 Intermarché locations.

In November, Koledo went to Portugal to test the box letters at the local sign maker. Representatives from Intermarché were also there, together with our customer Philips Portugal. The first test was with High Power and Medium Power LED strings. These LED strings did not give the desired effect so Low Power LED strings were then tested. When these were installed, the sign maker and Philips decided that the Low Power 6300K (cold white) and Low Power in Red were a perfect solution because each box letter was equally illuminated. After this, calculations were made and prices agreed. Each shop owner was informed about the new products and sign makers were hired to install the lights.
